Zygomatic Implants

Zygomatic dental implants are a unique advanced concept of implant that should only be fitted by a specifically trained implant team.

Zygomatic implants are a much longer implant than normal in terms of their shape and size, and one that extends from the mouth where it is used to anchor the bridge to the underside of the cheek bone – the zygoma. They can be used to provide extra support just at the back of the mouth where poor bone is more commonly found, or at the front as well in more extreme cases where the bone is poor throughout the jaw.

Fitting Zygomatic Implants with CT Scanning

Placing zygomatic implants is a technical procedure and requires bone of a certain quality in good volumes for a successful result to be achieved. To assess this our principle diagnostic tool is the CT scan x-ray, which enables us to see in three dimensions the shape and density of your jawbones, and to plan by doing “virtual surgery” on the scan.

The scan also shows us small anatomical features, such as nerves, which we need to avoid during surgery. We can determine the placement position, size and diameter of the implants we will need to use and once this is done we can confirm with a high degree of confidence that surgery is a good option for you and provide you with a full treatment plan and estimate.

As with conventional All-on-4 cases the assessment for zygoma implants is carried out using the CT scan. This allows us to make our decisions on positioning of the implants and also to produce a 3D solid model of your jaw bone to confirm the planning and to rehearse the drilling angles and overall surgical approach that is unique for your case. This use of modern technology enables us to be confident in our surgery, and to be able to offer this treatment to you with the fullest possible preparation and assessment having been carried out.

Benefits of Zygomatic Implants treatment

Zygomatic implants take roughly 2 months longer to perform the treatment compared to traditional implant procedures. However, it still comes with many benefits:

– The placement of the implants are non-invasive

– To ensure greater precision, it uses industry guided digital technology

– The experience will be made extremely comfortable for you

– Treatment tends to be undertaken with intravenous sedation for comfort

Clinical studies with reviews over a 9 year period using this technique have shown up to 100% success rates for this treatment in the 20 years since the technique was first developed, and we have been offering this treatment here in the UK for the last 5 years.

We are one of the few worldwide dental practices that are ZAGA Center accredited. Only a few professionals in the world represent being specialists in zygomatic implants, so you can be assured that you will be receiving the best possible treatment here at Hale Dental Clinic.
